Next to the massive concerts (festival stage 7.000 seats, all in all 25.000) wakeboarding will be a big highlight of this extraordinary event.
The Sesitec 2.0 System will run 5 full days. Riders can practice and push the limit on obstacles like the Red Bull Quaterpipe from unit-parktec.com. International competitors will fight for considerable price money and local riders can show their skills at an separate rookie contest. Not just the usual judging system will decide, the riders also have to impress the audience. Also a Style- and Show- Judge will tell who gets a piece of the cake.

The first Wakepark 2.0 System Wakeboardcamp in history will be held here under the supervision of Pro Coach Daniel „Fetzy“ Fetz. The Sesitec 2.0 System will make it easier to launch of your first inverts.

THE NEXT LEVEL – NEW LOCATION – NEW DIMENSION 
The Freakwave Festival at Lake Constance connects freestyle sports and art & culture in music, film, visual art, fashion design and street art into an extra- ordinary in- and outdoor event. The aim is to create an interregional network, which brings international mu- sic acts, young, spectacular sports and different kinds of art closer to a broad audience. By relocating the festival from Lochau to Bregenz, with the Strandbad Bre- genz and the neighbouring Bregenzer Festspielhaus, the festival will have the perfect local infrastructure to use the whole potential of the sports- and arts-program.

Bregenz: The capital city of Vorarlberg, at the eastern waterside of Lake Constance, acts as the interface for 4 countries (Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein). Bregenz is world famous, especially for the Bregenzer Festspiele, but also for its geographical position with Lake Constance and the Pfänder Mountain.

Area of 4 countries: The interregional area around Lake Constance has more than 3 million inhabitants. This territory, from Bregenz to Innsbruck, from Zurich to Munich/ Stuttgart, forms the catchment area of the Freakwave Festival.

Festival stage: With almost 7000 seats and the spectacular setting the stage is the biggest of its kind. Therefore, it is perfect to bring big international live-acts to Bregenz and to complete the Freakwave Festival with 1-2 musical highlights. The band gets integrated into the stage design of the opera Aida, which gua- rantees a visually grandiose performance. The quality of the used film- and photo-material will be accordingly remarkable and therefore it will guarantee a large operating distance.

Werkstattbühne / Festspielhaus Bregenz: With a capacity of 3500 spectators, this is the biggest indoor facility Bregenz can offer. The technical facilities are absolutely State-of-the-Art and completely fulfill the needs of any festival. The studio theatre is used for the indoor-program, but also as a backup capacity for bad weather. Visual art, fashion shows, electronic music club-nights, expositions, workshops and film-contests will bring active participants and the audience to this remarka- ble location.

The large and newly designed square in front of the festival hall offers the perfect location to realize special visual art and streetperformance presenta- tions as well as smaller sport shows. strandbad bregenz 6500 square meters, which directly borders the Bregenz festival stage, form the outdoor area of the festival. A stage for mid-size bands and DJ acts, the wakeboard site and the BMX course form the program highlights and the open-air festival atmosphere directly by Lake Constance. Culture-Programm 

Music: Concerts + DJ sets by international and regional acts at the Strandbad Bregenz open-air stage, theatre stage & the big main acts at the festival stage, music-workshops 

Film: Beach-cinema for several days with different program-focuses: genrefilm, animated & short-movies as well as fun- & extreme sports-movies; cooperation with Alpinale and the Filmforum Bregenz; film-workshops, film-contest 

Fashion-Design: A fair environment for upcoming designers with fashion-shows, sales & workshops

Club Culture: Urban club-culture from Vienna, Berlin and Amsterdam is brought to Bregenz. Existing networks are invited for acts outside of their cities. 

Photo: Exposition in the festival hall, again workshops facilitate the exchange between profes- sionals and regional newcomers.

Streetart: In the form of exhibitions, workshops and live graffiti-shows, arrangement of the open- air area + Werkstattbühne (theatre stage).

Performance: Streetperfomance + interaction with the audience

Sports-Programm

Bmx: Austria’s best BMX athlete Senad Grosic and his crew from Vienna invite international pro-colleagues and they show on different obstacle-elements, what state-of-the-art on the BMX means. A show-contest is carried out, which directly includes the audience.

Wakeboard & Wakesurf: The highlight of the sports-program at the Freakwave Festival is the wakeboard contest. International and regional riders fight in an audience oriented contest for the title and prize money. Thanks to a specially constructed liftsystem from Sesitec 2.0 the contest-area is situated directly at the Strandbad Bregenz, so that the audience gets the chance to be very close, when the riders prove their abilities at the different obstacles, like boxes, rails and several kickers. The Wakesurfers will show their skills behind the motorboat. You will also see that shuvits, bigspins and 540s are possible are possible on the wakesurfer behind the motorboat.

Freerunning: They see barriers as challenges and move aesthetically – Freerunners are individualists. Incredibly creative, unbelievably stylish and amazingly spectacular, they move through mostly urban landscapes. This new sport defines body control, acrobatics and urbanity in a new way. It gets integrated into the Freakwave Festival as a show-event/contest on the Seebühne (stage on the sea). With two Liebherr building cranes different flexi- ble levels are created and the festival stage, which offers all kinds of technical finesses, provides a very special atmosphere.

Acro Paragliding: As another part of the show, Acro-paraglide-pilots will astonish the audience with their maneuvers and tricks in the air above Strandbad Bregenz. Precision landings on a floa- ting island directly in front of the festival audience.
